Kava tastes like dirt because it basically is: the drink is made from the ground root of the plant, and the compounds people drink it for are bitter and peppery. The good news is that canned kava drinks cover most of it with fruit and cream flavors.
Why kava tastes the way it does
- It's a root. Traditional kava is ground root kneaded in water, so it tastes earthy and muddy.
